Mubarak Akinsegun Akintola Ph.D. is a developing academic in the field of Sociology of Education, currently serving as a Lecturer in the Department of Social Sciences Education, Faculty of Education, University of Ilorin. He obtained his Ph.D. in Sociology of Education from the University of Ilorin, where he also earned his Master’s degree, following a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies Education from Lagos State University. His research and teaching focus on the sociology of education, open and distance learning, higher education policy, and the sustainability of education in Africa. Dr. Akintola is deeply committed to advancing knowledge that promotes social justice, inclusion, and equitable access to education, particularly in the African context.
Dr. Akintola has published widely in reputable journals and contributed to book chapters and conference proceedings. His works address pressing issues such as student engagement in open and distance learning, the role of digital media in shaping university education, and sustainable approaches to higher education in Nigeria. His scholarship has earned him recognition in the AD Scientific Index (2025), where he is listed among the top researchers at the University of Ilorin.
Beyond research, Dr. Akintola is an inspiring teacher and mentor. He teaches courses in Sociology of Education, Curriculum Development, and Educational Foundations, guiding both undergraduate and postgraduate students to think critically and engage meaningfully with contemporary educational challenges.
